Main Description

'LIBERTAS' is well known throughout the Caribbean and you can carry on her legacy on the race course or sail her into the sunset. Though optimized for racing, she still has plenty of potential to be a comfortable cruiser with performance in mind. She has dominated the performance cruising class in the BVI Spring Regatta 2022–2025 with a competitive CSA Rating of 0.898.

Over $100k was invested in this vessel in the 2022 refit alone. Some notable upgrades include New standing & running rigging, New North Sails 3Di Mainsail, 2 head sails for light or heavy wind, and a reacher on a continuous furler and is a brilliant addition to the sail plan as it allows for excellent downwind performance without the hassle of a big spinnaker. Other notable additions include the detachable carbon bowsprit, Harken mainsail luff track upgrade, full suite of Garmin electronics including the new Autopilot and a steering system upgrade that included new rudder bearings and new cables as well as repainting the pedestal.

She currently in the dry-sail program from Nanny Cay Marina in Tortola and splashed for club races and of course the BVI Spring Regatta to defend her title in the performance cruising class. We are hoping to find her an owner who would like to keep her legacy going but would be just as happy knowing she is off to new adventures. Contact us today if you have any questions or would like to schedule a showing. Adventure awaits!

Owner’s Comments and Boat History

LIBERTAS is a Beneteau First 40 designed by Bruce Farr and initially built for Sunsail’s charter racing fleet in 2011. She was made famous as the SAILING VIRGINS flagship for several years until she was purchased in 2022 by a knowledgeable racing skipper who optimized the boat for the Caribbean racing circuit. LIBERTAS has won her class in the BVI Spring Regatta from 2022–2025 and is dry-sailed from Nanny Cay Boatyard in
