Основное Описание

The Alibi 54 is widely regarded as one of the most exhilarating performance sailing catamarans ever built, and this single-owner, fully customized example represents the concept at its absolute peak. Developed in close collaboration with the Alibi founder & naval architect, Loïc Goepfert, she was engineered with one clear goal: maximize performance through intelligent weight management and lightweight construction—without compromising true off-grid luxury cruising. The result is the lightest and most refined Alibi 54 ever constructed.

This Alibi 54 hull is constructed using advanced epoxy resin infusion technology with E-glass fiberglass over a Divinycell PVC foam core. Carbon fiber is employed extensively throughout the vessel—not only in primary structural elements such as the sub-structure, bulkheads, bow sprit, cross beam, and superstructure, but also in secondary components including floorboards and cabinetry—each engineered to be as lightweight as possible.

Every design decision reflects a meticulous focus on balance and efficiency. Heavy systems, including the engines, are centralized to minimize pitching, while the innovative forward dinghy lift eliminates stern weight, preserving optimal trim and speed. Combined with a rotating carbon mast and boom, carbon 3M asymmetrical daggerboards, a retractable drive system, and 3-meter retractable carbon rudder blades, this yacht delivers extraordinary sailing performance, with reported speeds up to 27 knots and effortless cruising in the high teens.

Equally impressive is her self-sufficient cruising capability. A large lithium battery bank and expansive solar array enable generator-free living at anchor, with a generator available if needed. Uncommon amenities for a true performance platform—including air conditioning, watermaker, washing machine, dishwasher, wine fridge, deep freezer, and a dive compressor, all seamlessly integrated throughout.

The interior is modern, thoughtfully outfitted, and impeccably finished, reflecting a level of craftsmanship and customization that clearly distinguishes this yacht from production builds. There is no trade-off between comfort and performance—this is a purpose-built bluewater performance catamaran where intelligent engineering, impressive speed, and true luxury cruising come together seamlessly.

Accommodation

This high-performance carbon-fiber Alibi 54 catamaran seamlessly combines cutting-edge sailing capability with refined luxury for true long-range cruising. Be The First was constructed at the Alibi shipyard in Thailand, then shipped to France where all mechanical, electrical, and interior installations were completed. The interior is fully finished throughout, presenting a modern yet elegant aesthetic defined by premium materials, bespoke teak and composite cabinetry, subtle ambient lighting, and an exceptionally intelligent use of space—carefully engineered with weight management in mind. Meticulous attention to detail sets this yacht well beyond her peers.

On deck, comfort and functionality are thoughtfully integrated. Forward, expansive trampoline nets provide an inviting lounging area beneath the deck shade, complemented by a padded sun cushion between the A-frame bowsprit. An innovative centerline seating arrangement allows the self-tacking jib track to pass discreetly between the cushions, preserving both comfort and sailing efficiency.

Aft, the fully equipped helm stations are designed for effortless control. Pivoting helm pedistles provide excellent ergonomics, with all running rigging, winches, daggerboard controls, and the rotating mast system within easy reach and adjustable at the touch of a button at either helm. Both helm pedistles can pivot outboard to the rail for unobstructed sail visibility and an unobstructed breeze. The starboard helm is further enhanced by a helm seat and a unique pivoting carbon-fiber pedestal, allowing the helm to swing into the cockpit for steering in inclement conditions in the comfort of the cockpit.

Both transoms are equipped with integrated swim ladders, hot-and-cold freshwater showers, fishing rod holders and secure storage lockers housing the dive compressor, dive gear, additional storage and access to the retractable rudders.

Stepping into the cockpit, a beautifully maintained teak cabin sole and excellent condition cockpit cushions sets the tone. Aft bench seating is complemented by a portside L-shaped settee and a handcrafted mahogany table that retracts to create a generous lounge area for long passages. The tabletop can also be removed to reveal a stylish cocktail table. To starboard, an additional movable bench allows seating for five or more guests around the table when entertaining.

The port hull houses a comfortable aft guest cabin and a forward child or crew bunk cabin. A shared head with rain fall shower, wash basin, and electric toilet is conveniently located just aft of the companionway steps, providing practical and comfortable accommodations for guests or crew.

Owners Comments and Boat History

I have been a passionate sailor since childhood and competed in regattas for many years, eventually becoming national champion twice in the Soling class. The decision to move to a larger sailing yacht came as I saw my retirement approaching. In 2014, I began searching for a sailboat that would offer outstanding sailing performance while also providing a high level of comfort.

The choice between a monohull and a catamaran ultimately favored the catamaran, mainly due to the generous space and shallow draft. However, my goal was to find a catamaran that would deliver the sailing characteristics of a good monohull. After an intensive market analysis, the result was the Alibi 54—a catamaran that combines all of these qualities. Its sailing performance is comparable to that of a strong monohull, while its exceptional space and comfort complete the overall concept.

My team, consisting of a marine construction engineer and an electronics specialist, was closely involved in defining the specifications of the boat, optimizing it to meet my individual requirements. Together with the shipyard, we agreed that the primary objective would be to build the boat as light as possible. For this reason, it was constructed largely from carbon. Although this involved a higher cost, it was fully justified by the significantly improved performance.

The interior design was developed jointly by a professional yacht designer and myself. Many of the details provide real added value in everyday use. My team and I were regularly present at the shipyard, closely monitoring the production process and the execution of all details. One notable feature is that all interior bulkheads are not covered but instead sanded and finished with high-gloss paint, achieving the highest quality standard and eliminating the risk of mold or other issues forming behind hidden panels.

As a result, the boat ended up being two tons lighter than all comparable Alibi yachts. The shipyard built nine boats in total before discontinuing production. My boat was completed in France, from where I spent the following years sailing throughout the Mediterranean.

The performance proved to be exceptional: a top speed of 27 knots and consistent cruising speeds between 14 and 17 knots. Thanks to the rotating mast and asymmetrical daggerboards, the boat could sail upwind on par with any monohull.

The onboard equipment allows for completely autonomous sailing, including water generation, electrical power via photovoltaic panels, regeneration or generator, as well as a washing machine and deep freezer. All of this made sailing a truly special experience. The onboard diving equipment, including a compressor, enabled us to visit and enjoy some of the most beautiful dive sites.

For any sailor who values sailing performance, comfort, and beaut
